Anyone who has ever woken up with the face in a small pool of drool knows how embarrassing this can be. Millions of Americans complain about drooling during sleep, which is medically called sialorrhea. There a few causes of sialorrhea, such as allergies, deviated septum, nasal congestion, sinus infection and inflammation, certain medications like depressants, and your sleeping position. Namely, sleeping on the side of the stomach causes the jaw to hang open, which in turn stimulates saliva to leak out.
